Grace & Aaron
Wedding at The Athenaeum in Pasadena, California
In March I traveled to California for Grace and Aaron’s wedding at The Athenaeum at Caltech in Pasadena, California. Their day was fun and filled with personal touches. Grace and Aaron got super lucky with the weather on their wedding day. It wasn’t raining during the first look and right after it was raining and it stopped right before their outdoor ceremony! Then it only started up again once the reception was inside... how perfect!
Working in the academic world, they both have moved to few different cities before landing at Caltech in Pasadena, California. Their wedding was a perfect celebration that brought their families from all over the country to one location! Throughout the entire day it was so obvious how close they are to their family and friends, it was such a joy to photograph their emotional moments!
Grace and Aaron are both researchers at Caltech, which is why they chose The Athenanum. Holy smokes! What a gorgeous venue! I also loved that they included personal touches like robots and crystals, since Aaron works on robots and Grace works in geochemistry! How cool!!
I am the absolute worst at getting behind on posting my personal work. I went to Iceland for the first time in May 2014 and I was completely blown away at how beautiful the country is. I vowed to keep visiting the country at least every two years. During my first trip I didn't take many self-portraits and when I got home, I felt like I missed out a bit. Then two years later in May 2016 I went for the second time and throughout the week, I made sure to force myself to take some self-portraits in the gorgeous landscapes. My work started with self-portraits so for me there is nothing more therapeutic than exploring a beautiful area and creating photographs.
I'm very excited to announce that I will be going again in May 2018 for a week. My work has transformed a lot in the year and this time I'm going with my boyfriend Vien and I'm very excited to take some photos of us together in these landscapes. I'd also love to photograph some other couples in love so if you want to adventure and take some photos, come to Iceland in May 2018 :)
Here are some self-portraits at one of my favorite spots in Iceland. Yes I as cold. Yes that was glacial wind gusting at least 20 mph. Yes I was barefoot. But yes it was so worth it ;)
Lindsey & Mike
couple Session in Joshua Tree, California
Over Labor day weekend, Autumn Wilson and I planned a weekend getaway to Joshua Tree National Park and we were delighted to have Lindsey and Mike join us so that we could take some pictures of them in the amazing landscape! These two babes were so fun to photograph and since Joshua Tree has been on my list of national parks to visit and photograph, I'm super thankful that this trip worked out! This session is one of my favorites so I'm excited to share the photos:
Taylor & Nick
couple session in San Diego, California
Boy do I love cliffs and the ocean! I grew up near the ocean in NJ and while there are no cliffs there, I miss living so close to the beach. Living in Austin has its perks with tons of rivers and lakes, but nothing beats the ocean ! I was in San Diego in August to visit my sister and attend a physics conference (nerd alert :p ) and I'm so happy I got to connect with Taylor and Nick for a quick session in Torrey Pines, San Diego. The cliffs were magical, the sunset was perfect, and Taylor and Nick were so natural in front of the camera! They made each other laugh and smile and it made the whole session beyond amazing!
Katrin & Philip
Wedding in Long Beach, CAlifornia
Over Labor Day weekend, I flew out to Long Beach, CA to photograph Katrin and Philip's wedding. When I first met them a month before the wedding and they described all the elegant details, I instantly knew that this wedding was one for the books! From the vintage style of their reception hall, to Katrin's dress and bouquet, and to all the details in-between, their special day was a dream!
Katrin and Philip got ready in separate locations, keeping their first look special as Katrin walked down the aisle of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Afterwards, we explored a bit of Long Beach to capture their bridal party and photos of just Katrin and Philip. Boy! They made my job easy because their love was so easy to photograph!
They gathered their family and friends at the Loft on Pine, their reception venue. To end an amazing day, their reception was filled with great dancing! Their family and friends were by far one of the funniest groups to photograph! The children, their parents, their friends, and everyone in-between was on the dance floor and they sure knew how to jam out!
Congrats Katrin and Philip! Here's to many, many years of love and joy!
Ashleigh & Cameron
Engagement Session in San Marcos, Texas
Last weekend Ashleigh and Cameron woke up early in the morning on a Saturday to catch the sunrise for their engagement session and I'm sure glad they were willing to wake up so early! We met at their friend's ranch just outside San Marcos, TX that had the amazing hill country views and river access and I was blown away by the diverse landscapes! We had so much fun exploring the ranch and stopping every so often to take photos. Their wedding is in November and I cannot wait to photograph them again!
